Yamato - The Drummers of Japan
High-energy Yamato travels the world with Japan’s traditional Wadaiko drums made of animal skins and ancient trees, some of which are more than 400 years old. Their highly theatrical, propulsive rhythms will uplift the spirit.
The taiko drumming group celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2018, having in that time performed in 54 different countries, in over 3,500 performances, reaching almost 8 million people!
The title of their newest program is “Passion" which is exactly what the dynamic artists bring to their craft. Though the drummers are native speakers of Japanese, the connection forged between the audience and performers is powerful, with audiences of all ages deeply engaged. Yamato brings the audience into a world of exciting rhythm and sound with an important connection to Japanese culture and history included!
“Integrating the arts allows me to bring joy and enthusiasm into my teaching. I see such a difference in my students when we have arts integration in our lesson.â€
