BEETHOVEN                              Violin Concerto in D Major

Perhaps the first Romantic concerto ever written, Beethoven’s transcendent Violin Concerto in D Major pushed the limits of the art form. Paul Huang, recipient of the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant, is renowned for his intensely expressive music making; hear him play this lyrical work with the Des Moines Symphony in a program which features the noble grandeur and epic journey of Sibelius’s Seventh Symphony and Anna Clyne’s Masquerade, a rollicking tapestry of sound based on an old English drinking song.
