Lightwire Theater brings Aesop’s fable of the slow and steady Tortoise and the nimble but overconfident Hare to life through electroluminescent puppetry! We start the story with The Tortoise and the Hare, but then fast forward ten years down the road; now, Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare are in a whole new kind of race, complete with modern-day distractions! Smartphones and video games make it difficult to focus on finishing the race. When their adventures lead them into unexpected territory, Old Man Tortoise and Big Daddy Hare must come together despite their differences to find a way to save their children. What hurdles will they have to overcome to make it to the finish line?
Poignant storytelling, brilliant lighting effects, and the creative use of music from classical to pop, bring this classic tale to a new generation!

Teachers will be granted access to supplemental materials to help students prepare for and to reflect on their experience at the theater. Materials are generally available four-six weeks before the performance.
