Matthew Sweet | October 1, 2024

Matthew Sweet emerged in 1991 as the leading figure of the power pop revival, a genre which adhered to traditional song craft, yet subverted the form by adding noisy punk guitar and flourishes of country rock. Throughout his decades-long career, he continues to solidify his reputation as the premier alternative pop singer/songwriter, now with more than 20 albums to his credit, including the classics “Girlfriend” and “100% Fun.”

This seasoned singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist, is currently in the midst of a personal musical renaissance that's seen him produce some of the most compelling and ambitious music of his three-decade career. That description applies to Tomorrow's Daughter, on which such instantly memorable new tunes as "Belong," "Run Away," "Lady Frankenstein" and "Out of My Misery" demonstrate his uncanny ability to tap into a bottomless well of pop history to craft music that's effortlessly catchy yet deeply personal.

Experience this one-of-kind intimate concert, as Sweet performs his iconic hits, shares work from his newest endeavors, and tells stories from his colorful musical journey.

Sweet appears in Des Moines prior to his international “Underneath Experience Tour” with 90’s pop sensation Hanson.

Judy Carmichael | January 31, 2025

Grammy nominated pianist/vocalist, Judy Carmichael is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride and swing piano. Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride," acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style. Judy’s vocal debut on her CD "Come and Get It" features her singing everything from Peggy Lee inspired standards, to humorous takes on Fats Waller tunes. Her first all-vocal CD "I Love Being Here With You Followed", which is also her first with someone else playing piano, in this case the great Mike Renzi (who was music director for Mel, Tormé. Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee and Sesame Street) with Harry Allen on sax and Jay Leonhart on bass.

Judy has taken this infectious style of music and her equally infectious personality everywhere from posh nightclubs in Paris and Melbourne to Carnegie Hall and a Rio concert for ten thousand Brazilians; from Arundel Castle (where she opened for Leslie Garrett and the London Philharmonic) to Castle Fraser for the National Trust of Scotland at the behest of longtime fan, Sir Cameron Mackintosh.
