The Temple Theater

From the moment of his birth, we follow Morgan the Clown on an intriguing journey of discovery, learning valuable lessons along the way about love, friendship, and the true meaning of happiness.

The play is a captivating exploration of joyous yet challenging life experiences and offers audiences a unique opportunity for active participation. We share Morgan's delight as he celebrates his first birthday and meets his first friend, a humble sock puppet named Herkimer who becomes his companion and mentor. And we help guide Morgan along his journey through moments of happiness, jealousy, and compassion.

MORGAN’S JOURNEY is a piece of interactive theatrical magic that has become the longest-running touring play in Canadian history. It won the prestigious Chalmers Award for Outstanding Play and has rightly earned the distinction given to it, "a true family classic."

“There's no praise too high for a piece of theatre that can encourage children to reflect on and value their own lives in this way." –The Scotsman

UNDERNEATH A MAGICAL MOON

Saturday, March 16, 2019

11:00 a.m. Sensory-Friendly Performance

1:00 p.m. Public Performance

The Temple Theate

UNDERNEATH A MAGICAL MOON is set in an ordinary back garden where three children, Wendy, John and Michael, do a sleep out, one summer evening. However, it's a full moon, and Wendy just can't get to sleep and she begins to tell her brothers the story of “Peter Pan.” Slowly but surely they are drawn into the famous tale. They become Peter himself, the villainous Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, a bunch of lost boys, a crocodile and a gaggle of Mermaids. They fly, they swim, and they sail and fight battles, and conjure up Neverland in their own back yard.

The boy who wouldn't grow up has a hold over their imagination. They all begin to wonder about how they actually feel about growing up, who they will become, and what they'll take from their childhoods.

JAZZY ASH AND THE LEAPING LIZARDS

Saturday, April 6, 2019

1:00 p.m. Public Performance

Des Moines Civic Center

Jazzy Ash grew up with her mother from New Orleans and her father from Trinidad. Music infused her home life every day, from jazz to Caribbean rhythms to the lively children’s music which was playing all the time for the kids in her mother’s home day care. She often spent summers in New Orleans with her aunts and grandparents, enjoying the culture and music that permeated their West Bank neighborhood. Later on, after becoming mom to two sons, she earned a degree in early childhood development and embarked on her music education program, Leaping Lizards Music.

Ash and her band have had the pleasure of performing at Lincoln Center and Symphony Space in New York, Getty Center in California, and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and Ann Arbor Summer Festival, among other prestigious venues.
