Des Moines Performing Arts Invested Shows Earn Three Tony Honors
DES MOINES, IA • The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing announced the 2019 Tony Award winners during a televised ceremony Sunday evening (June 9). Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) has invested in two winning shows (The Cher Show and Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations)as part of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN), a consortium of 40 leading Broadway presenters, theaters and performing arts centers.
Awards for each show are as follows:
The Cher Show:
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Stephanie J. Block)
- Best Costume Design of a Musical (Bob Mackie)
Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations:
- Best Choreography (Sergio Trujillo)
