2020 Tony Award Nominees Just Announced
After initially being postponed due to the pandemic’s impact on the Broadway industry, The Broadway League and American Theatre Wing announced the 2020 Tony Award Nominees. The nominations were shared on the Tony Award’s YouTube channel on today (October 15) by Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart. To be considered for a nomination, shows must have opened on or before February 19 of this year under new eligibility requirements made necessary by the pandemic’s shut-down.
18 shows were eligible for consideration as a result of the new requirements. DMPA is proud to be an investor in Moulin Rouge! The Musical which received 14 nominations, including Best Musical. DMPA invests in Broadway productions as part of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN), a consortium of 40 leading Broadway presenters.
Broadway’s biggest night was initially scheduled to take place on June 7 but will now be streamed online later this year.
