Ten years ago, the John & Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park opened to the public, forever changing the cultural landscape of central Iowa. The Des Moines Symphony celebrates this artistic milestone with a suite from Symphony in Sculpture, originally commissioned by the Symphony to portray the sculptures in the park through music. You’ll hear Sibelius’s extraordinary ‘symphonic fantasy,’ his Seventh Symphony; then, the exhilarating adventures of Scheherazade will take your imagination on a colorful, thrilling journey.
"Being a part of the Des Moines Performing Arts family as a contributing donor gives us a meaningful way to support our community, expand creative thinking, and preserve the romance in a night out."
