MUSICAL THEATER DANCE INTENSIVE - CANCELLED
This camp has been cancelled.
In the face of the everchanging circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 virus, Des Moines Performing Arts has cancelled in-person summer camps for summer 2020.
Families registered for in-person camps should watch their email for a message regarding how to transfer their account credit to a new virtual camp/class experience or how to request a refund.
Company members from WICKED will lead teens in a four-day musical theater dance intensive that will be held June 23–26, 2020. Through two daily master classes, participants will sharpen their dance technique within a range of musical theater styles, increase their characterization skills as movers, and gain knowledge of the industry from working professionals.
Included in tuition is a ticket to the Tuesday, June 23, evening performance of WICKED! Students are encouraged to attend the performance to prepare for dance references made throughout the week.
The intensive is open to intermediate to advanced-level dancers in grades 9 through first year of college, based on enrollment in fall of 2020.
One four-day session of the MUSICAL THEATER DANCE INTENSIVE will be offered:
Tuesday through Friday, June 23-26, 2020.
Hours: Camp begins at 8:30 AM and ends at noon each day Tuesday through Friday. Students may be dropped off in the morning between 8:15-8:30 AM.
On Tuesday, June 23, students will meet for the evening performance of WICKED at the Des Moines Civic Center from 6:45 PM to 10:15 PM.
Location in the Des Moines metro to be announced.
The week is designed for intermediate to advanced-level dancers who are highly interested in musical theater, grades 9 through first year of college based on fall 2020 enrollment.
Previous dance training or experience is necessary.
The Musical Theater Dance Intensive carries a registration fee of $265.
Fee includes a ticket to the Tuesday, June 23 performance of WICKED!
(Pay in full at time of registration or in four equal installments. Payment plans only available for registrations received prior to March 22, 2020.)
We want to make sure that camp is accessible to all. Please check out details on our SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM if financial assistance is needed to allow your dancer to participate.
Scholarship applications may be submitted beginning Monday, January 13, 2020.
Your participation is very important to the overall success of your selected camp, but we understand that summer plans sometimes change.
In the event that you are no longer able to participate after registering, please submit notice of your camp cancellation to email@example.com.
Written notice of cancellation must be received six weeks prior to the first date of the camp in order for a refund to be issued.
If a cancellation is submitted less than six weeks prior to the camp start date, a refund will only be issued if we are able to secure a new registration to fill the vacated spot.
