MUSICAL THEATER CAMP: Heroes, Villains, and Sidekicks
This weeklong day camp invites young artists to explore their talents and skills as musical theater actors in an original musical production. Each participant is guaranteed a role - assigned on the first day through an audition process - and will rehearse throughout the week.
You'll be asked to provide your own shoes and a few basic costume items that should already be in your closet, such as jeans or a tank top -- and we'll provide the rest! Our professional scenic, lighting and costume designers, as well as our professional director and music director, will make sure you are ready to take the stage with confidence when you perform for family and friends at the end of the week. And, don't worry. When you're not rehearsing, workshops, games and other activities will help you increase your skills, make new friends, and have lots of fun too!
No previous experience necessary; all experience levels welcome!
For students entering grades 3-8, fall 2018.
Six week-long sessions of MUSICAL THEATER CAMP will be offered:

Each summer brings a new musical title for our young actors to experience and bring to life! This summer we will be exploring the world of heroes, villains and sidekicks, with a production of PRESS START!
Transport inside the bright, pixelated world of video games! When the famous characters we know and love run out of lives, they decide to put on a musical fundraiser that will help them raise gold rings and play on. Through hilarious and heartfelt musical numbers we see the heroes, villains and sidekicks like we’ve never seen them before. But when things go terribly awry, it’s the quiet sidekick Little Mushroom who must find the hero within to help save the day!
A New Children’s Musical
Music and Lyrics by Denver Casado; Book by Denver Casado and Brian Dawson
PRESS START! is presented through special arrangement with Beat by Beat Press (www.bbbpress.com)
Musical Theater Camp carries a registration fee of $280.
Families registering multiple participants receive a $25 discount on each additional child's registration. The first registration will be issued at the $280 fee, with additional children within the same household eligible for the discounted rate of $255.
We want to make sure that camp is accessible to all. Please check out details on our SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM if financial assistance is needed to allow your child to participate.
Scholarship applications should be submitted BEFORE registering for camp and may be submitted beginning Monday, February 5, 2018.
Due to the short timeframe of the camp and the intense rehearsal schedule, participation in the culminating performance is dependent on full attendance throughout the week. Missed rehearsals may necessitate that a participant give up his or her role for the success of the overall production.
Your participation is very important to the overall success of your selected camp, but we understand that summer plans sometimes change. In the event that you are no longer able to participate, please submit notice of your camp cancellation to email@example.com.
Written notice of cancellation must be received six weeks prior to the first date of the camp in order for a refund to be issued.
If a cancellation is submitted less than six weeks prior to the camp start date, a refund will only be issued if we are able to secure a new registration to fill the vacated spot.
All sessions are currently at capacity. Please put your name on our wait list, by clicking HERE, and indicate your child's age and which session(s) you are interested in. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

“After summer camp, she spent a lot of time developing plays with her friends. She was interested before, but now she thinks she’s a director and an actress and ... just anything.”
- Catherine, parent of second-grader Meg in Des Moines
"It was absolutely perfect! My daughter and I appreciated the personal approach, the smaller group of campers, and the merit-based audition process...She felt like her audition really helped land her a role that suited her. It was heads-and-tails the best camp experience we have had yet! My daughter and I particularly appreciated the hand-written notes from the directors. She was so pleased to get a note of encouragement, and I was really touched too! I felt like the camp leaders actually knew who my daughter was as an individual." -Sarah Egge, parent
