- MISSION IMPROVISATION
Featuring The Play That Goes Wrong!
Designed for students entering grades 6-9, fall 2019.
Under the guidance of local improv leader Joe Van Haecke, founding member of Comedy XPeriment, camp participants will develop an ensemble that listens and supports each other’s ideas in order to deliver a culminating showcase of their improv skills. Not only does improvisation teach courage, collaboration, problem-solving, and quick-thinking, it also strengthens acting skills!
As an added bonus, included is one ticket to the Tuesday, June 25, evening performance of The Play That Goes Wrong, the most comedic disaster to ever hit Broadway! All camp participants are encouraged to attend as a lead-in to exclusive interaction with company members of the show.
No previous experience necessary; all experience levels are welcome.
For students entering grades 6-9, fall 2019.
Mission Improvisation will be held June 24-28, 2019. Activities will be held at the Stoner Theater, located inside the Des Moines Civic Center.
9 AM to 4 PM, with the exception of Tuesday and Friday.*
Tuesday: 9 AM-4 PM and 7:30-10 PM, when you return to attend the evening performance of The Play that Goes Wrong
Friday: 9 AM-5:30 PM, with final showcase for family and friends starting at 4:30 PM
Students may be dropped off each morning between 8:45-9 AM.
The fee to attend Mission Improvisation is $250, which includes a daily snack; participants are asked to bring a sack lunch each day.
The fee includes a ticket to the Tuesday, June 25, evening performance of The Play That Goes Wrong. Students are encouraged to attend the show as connections will be made during the camp day and interactions with company members may occur.

Scholarship applications may be submitted beginning Monday, January 21, 2019.
Due to the short timeframe of the camp, participation in the culminating showcase is dependent on full attendance throughout the week. Missed rehearsals may necessitate that a participant's role be modified or reduced for the success of the overall showcase.
Your participation is very important to the overall success of your selected camp, but we understand that summer plans sometimes change. In the event that you are no longer able to participate, please submit notice of your camp cancellation to email@example.com.
Written notice of cancellation must be received SIX WEEKS prior to the first date of the camp in order for a refund to be issued.
If a cancellation is submitted less than six weeks prior to the camp start date, a refund will only be issued if we are able to secure a new registration to fill the vacated spot.
