DM Symphony - MW4: SCHWARZ CONDUCTS BERNSTEIN
For five years, the Des Moines Symphony’s guest conductor program has attracted an impressive slate of prestigious musical leaders from the United States and abroad. Now at the invitation of Joseph Giunta, the Des Moines Symphony welcomes celebrated conductor Gerard Schwarz to lead the Orchestra in a program that features the Des Moines debut of Israeli pianist Roman Rabinovich. You’ll hear Bernstein’s witty Divertimento, a celebration of American dance dedicated to the Boston Symphony, and Schumann’s expressive Symphony No. 2. But first, Rabinovich’s bravura performance of Prokofiev’s jazz-infused, lyrical Third Piano Concerto will take your breath away.
