- DANIKA PORTZ
The Temple Theatre welcomes Nashville singer/songwriter, Danika Portz, back to Iowa on Thursday, March 8, 2017. Bringing radio pop hits. her own original music and a full band from Nashville, Portz promises her show won't be anything less than high energy.
Portz, originally from Remsen, IA and Drake University alumna, is currently touring the country, hot off the tail of her 5th overseas military tour to support of our men and women serving abroad.
"Having the opportunity to go overseas and perform for these selfless men and women who serve our country is the biggest honor. My brother serves in the Air Force and has been deployed to Afghanistan five different times, and my baby brother just enlisted. We have quickly become a military family so doing these tours really hits home for me. I'm so excited to be back Stateside and to bring that energy to the people in Des Moines!
Additionally, Portz has performed at some of the largest festivals in the country including CMA Fest, the Key West Songwriters Festival, and Mill Creek Fest, and has opened for David Cook, Dan+Shay, Josh Gracin, A Thousand Horses, and Michael Ray.
"The arts help us understand ourselves as human beings. If you look at how we've ever documented our existence, it's all through an art form."
