The Snowy Day and Other Ezra Jack Keats Stories
CHILDSPLAY (UNITED STATES)
GRADES PREK-3
A show for all seasons that celebrates the wonder of childhood in the city: the excitement of a fresh snowfall, the delight of whistling for the first time, the awe in finding a special treasure, and the joys (and challenges!) of growing up. This imaginative musical is packed with singing, live action, humor, and shadow puppets that make this show fly by for kids of all ages.
Four of Keats' best loved stories are brought to life, including Whistle for Willie, Goggles!, and A Letter to Amy with set and background pieces created in his distrinctive watecolor collage style. The multiracial characters in Ezra Jack Keat's books were based on the lives of people in his childhood - including loving parents, friends and pets. He wanted no child to be an outsider, “If we could see each other exactly as the other is,” he wrote, “this would be a different world.”
Celebrate childhood, and each other, in this musical adaptation.
Please note: all children who enter the theater for this production must have a ticket and be at least three years old.
