Tap Explosion by Dorrance Dance

October 22, 2019 Des Moines Civic Center

Known for honoring the tradition of tap dance and simultaneously expanding its possibilities, Dorrance Dance makes its Des Moines debut with an exuberant program celebrating the uniquely American art form of tap dance.

Featuring Myelination, a glittering ensemble work, this performance highlights what is most thrilling, brilliant, and beautiful about tap dancing - that it is, at once, movement and music.

“Michelle Dorrance’s 10-dancer company reflected plenty of racial, physical and stylistic diversity yet could deliver complex unison footwork with a precision matching any cookie-cutter tap corps of the past.” - Los Angeles Times

“The dollar ticket price [for the Applause Series shows] is unbelievable. Without it, we would't be able to come. The people who support this program need to be applauded because it gives kids great opportunities.”
- Lynn, Holy Trinity Catholic School
