DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM (UNITED STATES)
GRADES 3-6
Dance Theatre of Harlem was founded in 1969 in response to the tragic assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as an affirmation of the power of art to transform. Comprised at that time of African American artists barred from U.S. ballet companies because of the color of their skin, the company became an expression of human excellence that broke down barriers and inspired millions.
In this special school performance, students will witness the power and grace of a company that is regarded as a dynamic leader in the ballet world today. From pointe shoes to contemporary style, students will experience a mixed program that shows the diversity of ballet and celebrates the power of art to uplift all.
Please note: all children who enter the theater for this production must have a ticket and be at least three years old.
