Petra and the Wolf

January 29, 2018 Des Moines Civic Center

Lionheart Youth Theatre (United States)

Grades 1-6

This new work for young audiences is inspired by the Prokofiev classic Peter and the Wolf.

Meet Peter’s mischievous and fearless granddaughter Petra. When a wolf threatens her home and animal friends, Petra goes on an adventure that tests both her bravery and compassion. Featuring captivating large-scale puppetry by Glass Half Full Theatre and a new instrumental score written and performed live by Mother Falcon (a band NPR describes as “the little orchestra that can seemingly do the impossible”), Petra and the Wolf is a stunning piece of visual and musical storytelling that invites audiences to gain a new sense of empathy for the animals that share our earth.
