BRUSH THEATRE (SOUTH KOREA)
A mischievous duo starts to doodle… and ends up creating a whole imaginative world! They invite us along on their sea adventure with a tiny little turtle. What will happen as we follow their vivid drawings into this beautiful watery world, and will they return the turtle to the sea safely?
This playful non-verbal show uses live musicians to perform the accompanying score and sound effects, combines interactive animated projections with live whiteboard drawings, and overflows with an abundance of theatrical imagination.
"...inventive and thrilling and completely fantastical. Natural, mythical and comical creatures morph into each other with as little as a flick of a hand or a wave of a pen… as awe-inspiring for the adults as it is for children.”

We anticipate health and safety protocols to evolve as performances progress. Reservation contacts should expect an email detailing specific protocols for all guests — including students — entering DMPA venues closer to the date of their performance(s).
Throughout the shutdown our team has consulted with state and local leaders as well as monitored CDC guidance to prepare for your safe return to our facilities. Enhancements include: updating our HVAC systems with new filters, adjusting for increased fresh air circulation and adding portable air filtration systems in key areas of the venue.
We want you to feel confident when making reservations for your group. Please be aware of the following considerations when making your reservation:
- Audience capacities for upcoming school performances will typically not allow for physically-distanced seating.
- Des Moines Performing Arts reserves the right to require masks for audience members and staff. Decisions about mask guidelines for each show will take into consideration guidance from the CDC and local health officials, as well as current conditions in Polk and surrounding counties.
Your loyalty has protected the arts through this intermission and we are delighted to welcome you back to live performances. Thank you for your continued support!

"After summer camp, she spent a lot of time developing plays with her friends. She was interested before, but now she thinks she's a director and an actress and ... just anything."
