- ACTING AND IMPROVISATION CAMP
ACTING AND IMPROVISATION CAMP
Explore your acting passion in the newest camp from Des Moines Performing Arts. Students will focus part of their day honing acting skills and the other half tapping their creativity through improvisation games, activities, and scene work. As part of an acting ensemble that listens and supports each other’s ideas, participants will use the collaboration, problem-solving, and quick-thinking required to improvise a scene to also strengthen the intention of their acting, resulting in a culminating showcase of their scenes and performance skills.
As an added bonus, included is one ticket to the Tuesday, June 30, evening performance of WICKED! All camp participants are asked to attend the show as a lead-in to exclusive interaction with WICKED company members.
All experience levels are welcome.
For students entering grades 6-8 and 9-12, fall 2020.
Actind & Improvisation will be held June 29-July 3, 2020. Activities will be held at the Stoner Theater, located inside the Des Moines Civic Center.

We want to make sure that camp is accessible to all. Please check out details on our SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM if financial assistance is needed to allow your child to participate.
Scholarship applications may be submitted beginning Monday, January 13, 2020.
Due to the short timeframe of the camp, participation in the culminating showcase is dependent on full attendance throughout the week. Missed rehearsals may necessitate that a participant's role be modified or reduced for the success of the overall showcase.
Your participation is very important to the overall success of your selected camp, but we understand that summer plans sometimes change.
In the event that you are no longer able to participate, please submit notice of your camp cancellation to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Written notice of cancellation must be received SIX WEEKS prior to the first date of the camp in order for a refund to be issued.
If a cancellation is submitted less than six weeks prior to the camp start date, a refund will only be issued if we are able to secure a new registration to fill the vacated spot.
Donors: Registration begins Monday,
January 13 at 9 AM.
Public: Registration begins Wednesday,
January 15, at 9 AM.
"The dollar ticket price [for the Applause Series shows] is unbelievable. Without it, we would't be able to come. The people who support this program need to be applauded because it gives kids great opportunities."
