2018 Excellence in Theatre Education Award
Did a theater teacher make a difference in your life?
Des Moines Performing Arts is partnering with The Tony Awards® and Carnegie Mellon University to look for the teachers who inspire the next generation of theatre artists—and you can help by telling the story of a K-12 theatre educator who made a difference in your life and the lives of others.
Members of the public are invited to submit candidates for the 2018 Excellence in Theatre Education Award. Make a video to introduce us to your teacher, and who knows—the committee of theatre education experts from the Tonys and Carnegie Mellon might select him or her to receive the Award at the 72nd annual Tony Awards on June 10.
The winner will receive on-air acknowledgement on the CBS Tony Awards telecast, a cash prize for his or her school, a flight to New York City, hotel accommodations, a pair of tickets to the Tony Awards Ceremony and Gala, and more.
Honor the people who inspire new generations of theatre artists—tell us the story of a remarkable teacher today!

Deadline for all application materials: February 16, 2018
It’s 21st century skills that they need to have the rest of their lives. It’s not just something that when they leave fourth grade, they are done with it.
