Summer Camp Teaching Assistant 2019
Des Moines Performing Arts has an exciting opportunity for current college students interested in arts and theater education to serve as a Teaching Assistant for summer camps.
The Teaching Assistant’s primary responsibilities include supporting summer camp faculty in the execution of musical theater-based performance camps for young artists in grades 3-8. The Teaching Assistant will assist in the rehearsal process, facilitate skill-building theater workshops outside of rehearsals, supply general assistance in technical areas of theater, lead art and craft activities, and provide additional support to create a safe and supportive environment for participating youth.
This position is ideal for students majoring in theater, music education, or theater education and who have a passion for working with young people.
Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Experience in a classroom environment, event management, and a passion for the arts is highly desirable.
This position will begin early June 2019. Applicants must be available 40 hours per week, with more hours during peak programming times. This position is a seasonal-based temporary position and will conclude early August. Stipend provided.
